Some people say that it’s not the equipment, but the photographer that makes the picture. Although I agree, nice equipment certainly helps.
35mm
I shoot traditional film and slides with a Nikon F4s. I love the feel, the quality craftmanship, and the metering of this camera.
6x7
I use a medium format Fuji GSXIII 6x7 camera. This camera is designed for studio work, but with care, is excellent in the field as well.
Digital
I use the Canon 5D 12 megapixel camera and the 20D, 8.2 megapixel camera. I’ve used these for some time, and am very comfortable with the features these camera offer.
Studio
I have privileges at some studios in Phoenix. I use 3 Norman strobes with pocketwizard wireless triggering. With the wireless trigger, I’ve also done some neat things with regular camera flash units on location when there wasn’t any AC.
Location
This is Arizona, almost anywhere you go, there are areas that make perfect, free backgrounds for portrait work. The Biltmore, Papago park, downtown Phoenix, all great locations.
For Fun
I recently purchased a Graflex Speedgraphic 4x5 large format camera. This is a military version, and when you take a picture with this, you have to really want the picture. It’s unforgiving, and a pure joy to use.
